Love VLC on the desktop? I sure do! I have not run into anything that it can’t play short of corrupted files, so when I heard that VideoLAN was working on an Android application i got excited. That VLC for Android app was recently released as a beta app on the Google Play Store.
Unfortunately, if you are in North America, you will not be able to pick it up from the Google Play app store. Rather, you will need to download the .apk file from a nightly build server and install it yourself. It is a pretty easy installation as far as that goes, and takes less than a minute to install. I took a look at the latest build (#123) for PC Perspective and found that while performance was lacking on this early release, it was a promising app.
Head on over to the hands on article over at PC Perspective for more information!
PS: Happy 4th of July everyone!
