The review of Amazon’s new Cloud Player will be up by Tuesday; however, I wanted to say really quick that so far it’s really slick. There’s an album I’ve been wanting to pick up (and wow, I haven’t bought new music in forever), and so I decided to use testing out Cloud Player as an excuse to grab it. Logged into cloud player, clicked on the link to the mp3 store, found the album, bought it in one click and it saved to the cloud drive (You can then download the mp3s from the cloud drive or you can skip the cloud drive all together and download the album right after buying). hit play and was listening to it.
I really hope that the RIAA doesn’t get too bent out of shape over Amazon not getting licenses for the service because, in my opinion, A) They don’t need any licenses and if they think it’s a “public performance” than the RIAA needs to stop blowing money on drugs, and B) It’s really that “instant gratification” that will actually help the RIAA make more money as it gets people to spend money on albums again (not that they necessarily need any help in making money, but just maybe it will stop them bitching.
